Opinions and Thoughts

Assalamualikum, my dears, How’s it going Today. Today we gonna study about” what is Opinion and Thought, the structure of opinion and thought, language features of opinion and thought,and how to express opinion and thought.

A.     Definisi Opinions and Thoughts

Opinions dan thoughts merupakan cara ketika kita merasakan atau memikirkan sesuatu. Pendapat kita mengenai suatu hal disebut sebagai perspektif. 

Dalam bahasa Inggris, menyampaikan opinions and thoughts diawali dengan subject (I dan we). Lalu diikuti oleh verb (agree, believe, doubt, reckon, assume, dan think), dan object (the point of opinion).

Berikut adalah beberapa contoh kalimatnya.

1. I agree with what they are saying.

2. I believe this is not the right way to go.

3. I have no doubt for it.

4. We assume that you are reflected to this case.

5. We think that they don’t care about you.

B.      Struktur dan Kebahasaan Opinions and Thoughts

Subject yang digunakan dalam menyampaikan opinions and thoughts adalah I atau We (saya atau kami). Kemudian diikuti dengan kata kerja dan objek.

E.g.:

We (subject) + believe (verb) + with what you said (object).

Selain memperhatikan struktur kalimatnya, opinions and thoughts juga dipengaruhi oleh kata-kata tertentu yang membuatnya terdengar sebagai pendapat yang kuat (strong), sedang (medium), dan lemah (weak).

Perhatikan contoh berikut ini agar kalian dapat memahaminya dengan baik.

1.      Strong Opinion

Berikut adalah beberapa contoh strong opinion yaitu:

1) I am convinced that . . .(saya yakin bahwa…)

2) I strongly believe that… (saya sangat yakin bahwa…)

2.      Medium Opinion

Berikut adalah beberapa contoh medium opinion yaitu:

1. I believe . . .

2. It seems to . . .

3.      Weak Opinion

Berikut adalah beberapa contoh medium opinion yaitu:

1) I think . . .

2) I don’t think . . .

C.      Jenis-jenis Opinions and Thoughts

1.      Personal Point of View

Personal point of view merupakan kalimat yang menjelaskan pendapat pribadi.

 Contoh:

1. In my opinion… (menurut pendapatku…)

2. I think… (saya pikir…)

3. I personally think… (saya pribadi berpendapat…)

4. In my experience… (menurut pengalamanku..)

5. I strongly believe that… (saya sangat yakin bahwa…)

6. From my point of view… (menurut pandangan saya…)

7. As I understand… (sepemahaman saya…)

8. What I mean is… (yang saya maksud adalah…)

9. To my mind… (pendapatku…)

A.  Agreeing with an opinion

1. Of course (tentu saja)

2. This is absolutely right (ini sangat benar)

3. I agree with this opinion (saya setuju dengan pendapatmu)

4. I couldn’t agree more (saya sangat setuju)

5. I agree with what you are saying but have you ever…(saya setuju dengan pendapatmu namun pernahkah kamu…)

6. That is a good point (itu poin yang bagus)

7. I think so too (saya juga berfikiran seperti itu)

B. Disagreeing with an opinion

1. I sorry. I don’t agree with you  (maaf. Saya tidak setuju denganmu)

2. I don’t believe that (saya tidak setuju dengan itu)

3. I disagree with you (saya tidak setuju dengan pendapatmu)

4. I think you are wrong (saya pikir kamu salah)

5. This is not the same thing at all (ini bukan perkara yang sama)

6. I am not convinced that … (saya tidak yakin bahwa…)

2.      General Point of View

General point of view adalah kalimat yang menjelaskan tentang pendapat kebanyakan orang yang mendukung pernyataan tertentu. Misalnya:

1. Most of people do not agree…(banyak orang tidak setuju…)

2. Almost everyone think…(hampir setiap orang berpikir…)

3. Some people say that…(beberapa orang mengatakan bahwa…)

4. Some people believe that…(beberapa orang yakin bahwa…)

Untuk memberikan opini atau pikiran, biasanya menggunakan verba khusus diantaranya agree, believe, reckon, doubt, assume, dan think. Adapun rumus yang digunakan ialah sebagai berikut.
